You may be wondering, what are some things for retirees to do around Austin? In this blog, I will be sharing three of my favorite spots to check out, so you’ll be prepared on those days when you want to get out and about.

There are so many amazing things to explore around Austin. This blog will give you 3 great places to start with. You most certainly enjoy each of these locations when you go. I will also be sharing more great places in the future.

Spot #1

The first place is Austin’s Lady Bird Lake. You will always find tons of water activities happening on the lake, two of the most popular are enjoying a relaxing boat ride or kayaking. Austin has 10 bodies of water with nearby homesites that include marina access or boat storage options to met your needs. Lady Bird lake, sits in the middle of the city and it is absolutely stunning. You can literally plan a different itinerary for each time you visit the lake.

Spot #2

My  next  absolute favorite is Hamilton Pool Preserve, a beautiful natural wonder in Texas Hill Country. It’s about 30 minutes from the city and  absolutely stunning. It’s a natural aqua blue pool, surrounded by an almost 2-mile hiking trail filled with unique wildlife and landscapes for you to enjoy while walking the trail. Entry into the park is currently by reservation only so that it’s never overcrowded. You will want to bring a picnic basket, because it is perfect place to spending a couple of hours or enjoy a full day outing.

Spot #3

In my previous post, I shared how Austin has beautiful blush pink sunsets. You can really see the sunset in full effect by visiting one of my absolute favorite places, the Oasis. Undeniably, it is known as the Sunset Capital of Texas. It’s nestled in Austin Hill Country overlooking Lake Travis. This spot offers a dreamy view that many have compared it to being a mini Amalfi Coast. Just be sure to get there an hour or so early to get settled in.

When to visit....

Accordingly, I recommend going to each place at least once per season of the year. Be prepared for a different experience each time you go.
